By using GrowLocal, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly:
- Farm Registration: Farm name, contact name, email address, phone number, physical address, city, state, website, product categories, and farm description
- Community Vouches: Your name, email address, relationship to the farm, and optional comments
- Contact Form: Name, email address, and message content
Information Collected Automatically:
- Location Data: When you use the "Near Me" feature or search by zip code, we access your device's geolocation to find farms near you. This is only used in real-time to display search results and is not stored on our servers
- Usage Data: We may collect basic analytics such as pages viewed, search queries, and general device information (browser type, screen size) to improve the Service
- IP Address: Collected with vouch submissions for fraud prevention
Information We Do NOT Collect:
- We do not collect payment or financial information through the GrowLocal app
- We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or files
- We do not track your location in the background
- We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking
How We Use Your Information
- To display farm listings in the directory so customers can find local farms
- To process and verify farm registrations
- To send farm owners operational emails (registration confirmation, verification requests, daily reports)
- To display community vouches on farm listings
- To provide location-based search results when you use the "Near Me" feature
- To improve and maintain the Service
- To respond to your inquiries via the contact form
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Public Farm Listings: Farm name, city, state, address, phone, email, website, product categories, and verification status are displayed publicly in the directory. This is the core purpose of the Service — to help customers find farms
- Service Providers: We use Mapbox for map services and Zoho for email delivery. These providers process data only as necessary to provide their services to us
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on servers operated by Gavi Hand Enterprise, Inc. in the United States. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure database access controls, and regular security practices.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
Farm listing data is retained for as long as the listing is active in the directory. If you request removal of your listing, we will delete your data within 30 days.
Vouch data is retained as long as the associated farm listing exists.
Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months.
Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate information in your listing
- Deletion: Request that we delete your farm listing and associated personal data
- Opt-Out: Decline to provide location data by denying the location permission prompt in your browser or device settings

Children's Privacy
GrowLocal is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.
Third-Party Services
The Service uses the following third-party services:
- Mapbox: Map tiles and geocoding. Subject to Mapbox's Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare: CDN and security. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy
- OpenStreetMap: Map data. Subject to OSM's Privacy Policy
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
